Food Pantry Ministry
Purpose (Why do we exist?)
To distribute food to those in the community on a monthly basis and in emergency situations.
Who do we serve?
We serve anyone in the community in need of food. We partner with other churches and organizations as needed.
Schedule for breakfast and distribution
1. Every 2nd Saturday from 8:00am – 9:00am at the Robert J. Gay Building.
2. We distribute Thanksgiving Baskets the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. Sign up by phone 203-777-0472 ( Church Office) from 3rd Wednesday in October until 3rd Wednesday in November
How do others get involved / Responsibilities of volunteers
1. The Ministry is staffed by volunteers. Anyone wishing to volunteer is encouraged to call the Church office (203-777-0472) or cellular phone (203-996-9643) on Wednesday from 10:00am to 3:00pm.
2. Volunteers meet as new information and guidelines are issued by the CT Food Bank.
3. On the Friday before the second Saturday, volunteers meet at 8:00am to set up and prepare for distribution on that Saturday. Volunteers are asked to meet that Saturday at 7:00am. **Food Pantry is only open from 8:00am to 9:00am.
4. Volunteers are needed at 8:00am on the Monday and Tuesday before Thanksgiving for packing and distribution. The food will be dispensed on the next day 7:00am.
5. All are welcome to get involved by donation monetarily and or by donating packaged whole turkeys, packaged whole chickens, and non perishable food.
